A silence that will wake you up

Technology is so mind-blowing these days. I came across an article on a new product that may make waking up to the dreaded alarm clock a pleasant experience. Because it’s not actually an alarm you’re waking up to. Introducing Lark, a silent alarm that wakes you up using natural vibrations. No more scaring the living daylights out of yourself from that piercing horn that blares from your bedside clock. Another plus is, if you’re not alone in bed, you can wake up on time without disturbing your spooning buddy. Lark uses your body’s natural rhythms that are synched from an app you download to your iPhone, iPad or iPod to a wristband you wear when you go to bed. Then, in the morning when your alarm is set to go off, your wristband will begin vibrating slowly at first until it matches your body’s rhythm. What a blissful way to wake up!

Lark was created by some brains at MIT in Boston, MA along with Stanford specialists and a Harvard professor. It was available for pre-order but as of today is out of stock so hang in there and keep checking the site for their next shipment or get on their waiting list.

Available for $99 with a $10 discount for pre-orders with the promo code “TC2010.”

A fun World Cup iPhone App

I am truly reveling in World Cup madness, and wish I was able to faithfully commit all of my time to a couch in front of a big screen with screaming South African horns blaring in my ears. Instead, work and a life outside of TV and soccer prevails occasionally, and I must resort to checking my World Cup scores phone application incessantly.

A newly added (unofficial) application for those of you who have iPhones, stars renowned Portugal soccer icon, Cristiano Ronaldo.

If only I had an iPhone…

Now you can watch Ronaldo dance across your 4.5 x 2.3 inch screens with a soccer ball effortlessly bouncing at the command of his feet. Especially after his team lost to Spain today 1 – 0, this may be the most frequent way you can see Ronaldo. Though it does no justice to seeing the real thing on TV.

For $1.99, the app challenges iPhone owners to attempt recreating Ronaldo’s playing style, and it also features a variety of videos and links to related soccer updates.

Apple’s unveiled iPhone on the loose

The Apple iPhone now has a newer version, unofficially revealed to the public.

I’ve lost my cell phone before. I’ve also accidentally poured beer all over my cell phone, revived it with a hairdryer and sobbed until it started working again. But if I were the man who left behind the latest unveiled Apple iPhone at a bar, tears would be an afterthought; I’d be on the next plane out of town.

For the company that is known for keeping new technologies under strict wraps, this leak has thrown Apple a curve ball. The iPhone was sold to technology website Gizmodo for $5,000, where the professionals tore the phone apart, inspecting its inner-workings. With only a few months before the new phone was scheduled to hit the market, Apple is now battling the leak that has spread like wildfire. By midday yesterday more than one million visitors browsed Gizmodo to check out pictures of the gadget.

The website reports that the phone was left behind by an Apple engineer at Gormet Haus Staudt, a German specialty store and beer garden in Redwood City, California.

Late Monday night, Gizmodo said it received a letter from Bruce Sewell, Apple’s senior vice president and general counsel, requesting the phone be returned. But is it too late? The damage may already be done to Apple’s latest tech toy. As for the Apple employee with slippery fingers, I hope he’s learned not to mix beer with top-secret technology.
